Sergeant Silas Furbush, a member of the Quartermaster Corps, was listed by the War Department as having been killed in action in France. His next of kin was given as Mrs. Elizabeth Furbush. Shortly after the war, the committee that published the book Camden County In The Great War attempted to find the Furbush family, and neither they nor the police could locate his relatives. The War Department was not able to furnish a street address other than that of Camden NJ.

Research by Phillip Cohen of Camden NJ in 2006 revealed that Silas Furbush, like William Coonrod, was from Camden NY. While he was not from our Camden and probably never even visited, we consider him a welcome guest. Both he and William Coonrod are named on the Camden County World War I War Memorial at Roosevelt Plaza, opposite City Hall, in Camden.
