Private First Class Sebastian Mannella was born Sebastian Mannello on February 15, 1924, to Corrado and Alfia Mannello. The family lived at 1038 Haddon Avenue in Camden NJ. Sebastian attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, and worked as a machinist at the RCA plant before his induction into the United States Army in May of 1942. He went by the name Sebastian Mannella in the Army.
Private Mannella was attached to the 69th Infantry Division. He was killed in action on December 6, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg. He was 20 years old. His body was returned to the United States aboard the USAT Joseph V. Connolly, arriving October 27, 1947, and he was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ. He is also memorialized at the family plot at New St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr NJ.
Sebastian Mannella was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Corrado Mannella, and a sister, Miss Louise Mannella.

Battle of Bulge Victim To Be Buried Monday

The body of Sebastian Mannella, 20, of 1038 Haddon avenue, has arrived home for burial Monday in National cemetery, Beverly. He was killed in the Battle of the Bulge.
Services will be held at the cemetery at 10.30 a.m., attended by Mr. and Mrs. Corroda Mannella, parents of the dead hero, and Miss Louise Mannella, a sister.
Mannella was graduated from the Woodrow Wilson High school and was employed at RCA Victor at the time of his enlistment. He was attached to the 69th Division and was killed Dec. 6, 1944.
