Ronald Joseph Bates

Corporal Ronald Joseph Bates was born on November 4, 1949. He made his home in Gloucester City, NJ, and attended Gloucester High School. As a member of the United States Marine Corps, Corporal Bates’ MOS was 2531; he served as a field radio operator.

Corporal Bates served our country for one year, arriving in Vietnam on September 19, 1968. On July 31, 1969, he was killed in an accident in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was single. Corporal Bates was brought home to the United States and buried at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, New Jersey.
