Private First Class Richard L. Dentino was born in New Jersey on August 5, 1917 to Antonio and Bambina Dentino. Both his parents had come from Italy, his father arriving in 1905 and his mother in 1916. He was the first of nine sons born by 1930, the others being Orlando, Warren (Guerino), Lawrence (Fioravanti), Albert, Rinaldo, Frank, Carmen, and Giulio. At the time of the 1930 census, Antonio Dentino was working as a laborer for the railroad, and the family had purchased a home at 442 South Second Street, near the corner of South Second and Berkeley Streets, in Camden NJ.
Richard Dentino was inducted into the United States Army and was assigned to the 143rd Infantry Regiment of the 36th Infantry Division. Private First Class Richard Dentino died of wounds received in combat on October 12, 1944, in France. Survived by his parents, brothers, and sister Jeannette, his body was returned to the United States after the war. Buried on May 21, 1948, Richard Dentino rests alongside his parents at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill NJ.

Solemn high requiem Mass for Pvt. Richard L. Dentino, of 602 South Fourth street, will be celebrated at 9.30 a. m. tomorrow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Relatives and friends will meet at 9 a. m. in Mecca’s funeral home, 819 South Fourth street, where friends may also call tonight. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Private Dentino died Oct. 12, 1944, in France. Surviving are his parents, Antonio and Bambina; a sister, Jeanette, and eight brothers, Orlando, Guerino, Fioravanti, Albert, Raymond, Frank, Carmen and Giulio, all of Camden.
