Introduction
Private First Class Paul V. Hearne was born April 6, 1922 in Barrington NJ. He was the oldest child of Paul P. and Lillian Hearne. His father was a Navy veteran of World War I. At the time of the 1930 census, the Hearne family lived at 400 Reading Avenue in Barrington NJ. The elder Hearne was working as a blocker in a print shop. Paul V. Hearne was 7 at the time of the census, and the family also included a sister, Mary, and an infant brother, James. The Hearne grandparents lived on the same block, at 407 Reading Avenue. Paul Hearne received his early education at the St. Rose of Lima school in Haddon Heights NJ. He worked for the Hinde & Dauch Paper Company in Gloucester City NJ prior to enlisting in the Marines.
Paul V. Hearne entered the United States Marine Corps in September of 1942. He was killed in action on Guam on July 22, 1944 at the age of 22. He had resided at 305 Albany Avenue, Barrington NJ, and was survived by his parents, of 419 Reading Avenue, Barrington.
Paul Hearne was brought home after the war. He was buried at Calvary Cemetery on April 17, 1948, where he rests next to his father, who passed away in April of 1957.

MILITARY RITES SET FOR PAUL HEARNE
Military rites will be conducted by two veterans organizations at the funeral of Pfc. Paul V. Hearne, 22, of 305 Albany avenue, Barrington, Saturday. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a. m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Haddon Heights. Relatives and friends will meet at the residence at 10 a. m. Friends may call tomorrow night. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Private Hearne was killed in action on Guam July 22, 1944. He was a member of Company F, 21st Marines, Third Marine division. He enlisted Sept. 5, 1942. He was born in Barrington, where he received his early education and later attended St. Rose of Lima school, Haddon Heights. Prior to his enlistment, he was employed by the Hinde & Dauch Paper Co., Gloucester.
The veterans groups which will take part in the funeral are Barrington post 7247, VFW, and Barrington post 223, American Legion. Members of the Marine Corps League have been invited to attend. Arrangements for the military rites were made by Harry J. Stone Sr., service officer of Barrington VFW post.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul P. Hearne; a sister, Mrs. Jerald P. Burdett, Philadelphia, and a brother, James J., Barrington.
