Camden Seafarer Refused to Quit
Camden Morning Post —
Neil Jensen
306 Federal Street Man Spent 20 Years at Sea; Missing Since Feb. 22
Neil Jensen, 54, of 306 Federal Street, Camden, who lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Manfredini, has been at sea for 20 years aboard Merchant Marine vessels. He shipped out Feb. 8, as a crew member of the W.D. Anderson, and has been missing since Feb. 22.
Jensen has made it a practice to get in touch with the Manfredinis whenever he came into port, so that when he failed to do so around Feb. 22, they became worried. They became more alarmed when, trying to get in touch with him, they learned he was missing.
Although Jensen had spent his entire adult life at sea, he never learned how to swim. He was known, the Manfredinis told the Courier-Post, as a man who never quit. He served in the Spanish-American War and in World War I.
