Corporal Michael J. Broaderick Jr. was born in 1929 to Michael S. and Josephine Broaderick. The Broadericks came to the United States from their native Ireland in 1927 with son James and settled in Camden, NJ. Daughter Catherine was born soon after arriving in New Jersey. When the Census was taken in 1930, the family lived at 2071 High Street in East Camden. Another daughter, Betty, would soon follow. Michael Broaderick Sr. worked as a laborer in a local factory, and would later work as a cook. In the late 1940s the family lived at 480 Boyd Street in East Camden.
Corporal Broaderick was a member of the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. His MOS was 04745 Light Weapons Infantryman. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 22, 1952. He was survived by his parents, who remained Camden residents until their passing in the 1970s, and his siblings. Brother James later moved to Maple Shade, NJ.
