Joseph William Francis Jr.
Private First Class Joseph William Francis Jr. was born on September 23, 1946. He was issued a Social Security card in New Jersey in 1963. After being drafted and completing basic training, Private Francis was sent to Vietnam. His tour of duty began on December 1, 1966, serving with an infantry company.
On April 9, 1967, Private Francis was killed in action by friendly fire while serving in Long An Province, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was single at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at Zion Wesley A.M.E. Church at 753 Sycamore Street in South Camden.

It breaks my heart to see a young hero whose cause of death is MISADVENTURE. We lost so many good lives to enemy fire but to sacrifice your life to MISADVENTURE is such a tragedy.
