Private First Class Joseph Charles Daley was born on February 14, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA, to Walter and Stella Daley. His grandfather, Joseph T. Daley, was a member of the Camden Fire Department. At the time of the 1930 census, the family lived at 111 North Dauphin Street in Philadelphia, where the elder Daley worked as a painter for a railroad company. Joseph C. Daley later lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Emma C. Daley. He attended Haddonfield (NJ) Memorial High School, and worked for James A. Duffy, a feed and grain dealer in Westmont (Haddon Township), NJ.

Inducted into the United States Army in May of 1943, Joseph C. Daley was assigned to the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division.

Private First Class Joseph C. Daley was killed in action on January 22, 1944. He had participated in the attack across the Rapido River in front of Monte Cassino on January 20 and 21, 1944, but fell when the bridgehead across the Rapido collapsed on January 22.

After the war, Joseph C. Daley was brought home and was buried in Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, NJ, on September 23, 1948. He was survived by his parents and brother Walter Jr., of Philadelphia, and his grandmother, of 108 Ardmore Avenue, Westmont, NJ.

Joseph C. Daley is memorialized on the War Memorial on Haddon Avenue in Westmont (Haddon Township), NJ.
