Biography
Private Joseph A. Scheurich.
Private Joseph A. Scheurich was born June 13, 1924, the oldest of eight children of Joseph F. and Eva Scheurich of Gloucester City, New Jersey. The family lived at 219 Ridgeway Street, later moving to 923 Ridgeway Street. He worked for the Eavenson and Levering Company in Camden before entering the Army on October 5, 1943. He was sent overseas in October of 1944 as an infantry replacement to the 7th Armored Division.
Private Scheurich was killed in action on December 22, 1944, at Rodt, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge. He was 20 years old. He is buried at Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
