Biography
City Sailor Dies in Manila
John E. Rausch, machinist’s mate third class, serving with a Navy detail in Manila, died there on February 21 after a short illness, his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Rausch, 7184 Ogontz av., has been advised. He was 33.
A graduate of Collingswood High School, he enlisted in the Navy in January, 1944, and had been overseas more than a year.
Prior to the war, he served with the 108th Field Artillery of the Pennsylvania National Guard. At the time he enlisted, he was employed by the Bendix Aviation Corp.
Machinist’s Mate Third Class John E. Rausch was a 1930 graduate of Collingswood, NJ, High School. During the 1930s he had served in the Pennsylvania National Guard with the 108th Field Artillery. A machinist, he had worked for the Bendix Aviation Company prior to enlisting in the Navy on January 31, 1944.
He died while serving in Manila, Philippine Islands, at the age of 33 on February 21, 1946. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Rausch, of 7184 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.
