Private First Class John C. Hunsinger, 23, was from the Garden Lake section of Lindenwold NJ. After being inducted into the United States Army he was assigned to a medical unit. It was reported that he received a promotion while stationed at Camp Pickett VA, noted in the September 23, 1942 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.
John Hunsinger went overseas and served with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in action on February 2, 1945. His death was reported in the Camden Courier-Post April 3, 1945 edition. He was survived by his mother, Mrs. Catherine Hunsinger, of an address on the Black Horse Pike, Cross Keys NJ.
