Jeff Butler, 52, former city patrolman, died last night while attending a meeting at the First Italian Republican League headquarters, 813 South Fourth Street.
He was found in the basement by friends who took him to Cooper Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His wife said he had been ailing for some time.
An autopsy was scheduled for 11 a.m. today by Coroner Frank J. Leonard.
Butler was appointed as a “summer policeman” in 1928 and served through two full years until 1930.
