James Coleman

Camden Resident

Introduction

James Coleman was an Irish immigrant who came to Camden and was a well known citizen in both Camden and Stockton until his death in 1903.

James Coleman lived much of his life at what is today known as 1167 Cooper Street. He bought this house on July 1, 1870. At the time the street was called Main Street. He bought it for $275.00.

James Coleman died in this house on July 17, 1903. His wife Alice Maher Coleman died in this house October 11, 1912. Daughter Catherine sold the house on July 7, 1915.
