Biography
Jacob F. “Jack” Dickson was born in Pennsylvania in 1907. He lived with his mother in Delaware Township (present-day Cherry Hill), New Jersey before being drafted into the United States Army on June 17, 1941.
Jacob Dickson served as a Technician Fifth Class with the 565th Signal Air Warning Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II. He was a passenger on C-46D (#44-77353), 67th Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Forces when it disappeared while on a routine cargo flight from Peleliu to Tanuan, Leyte, Philippines on June 11, 1945. A search was made on June 13 for the missing aircraft, with some debris being found floating, but no signs of survivors.
Jacob Dickson is memorialized on the Delaware Township War Memorial in Cherry Hill, New Jersey as “Jack Dixon.”
