Irving Collins Sheridan was born in July of 1919 to Irving and Ethel May White Sheridan. At the time of his birth, the family owned a home at 15 Cooper Avenue in Haddon Township, NJ. His father was then working as a salesman of gas and oil. The elder Sheridan later acquired a farm near Marlton in Evesham Township, NJ.
The marriage was not a happy one, and in January of 1929, Mrs. Sheridan took her son and moved back to the home of her parents, Willard and Margaret White, at 309 Haddon Avenue. Willard White operated a real estate office. They resided at this address as late as the fall of 1931. Also in the home during those times were Irving Sheridan’s uncles, Milton and Willard Jr.
Irving Sheridan was a member of Collingswood High School Class of 1940. He enjoyed swimming and planned on becoming a draftsman.
Irving Sheridan died while serving in the United States Armed Forces during World War II.

Wife Wins Argument As Divorce Is Awarded

An argument as to whether a husband and wife should attend a party or go to a movie extended from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m., and was settled yesterday by William B. Knight, advisory master in chancery. He recommended a divorce for the wife.
The case concerned Ethel May White Sheridan, of 308 Haddon avenue, Westmont, and her husband, Irving, a farmer of Marlton.
Sheridan had charged his wife with desertion on January 21, 1929. They were married in July, 1918, and have one child, Irving, 12.
In a cross-suit, Mrs. Sheridan accused her husband of desertion and narrated various incidents in their married life, including the long argument. Afaer [sic] hearing Mrs. Sheridan’s story, Knight recommended a divorce and $10 a week alimony.
