Motor Machinist’s Mate First Class Howard H. Holloway Jr. of Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Motor Machinist’s Mate First Class Howard H. Holloway Jr. was born in 1917 to Howard and Dagay Holloway. His mother had emigrated to America from Norway in 1913, and his father worked as a fireman. His uncle, Fred Holloway, was at one time the mayor of Haddonfield. In 1930 the family owned a home at 107 Fowler Avenue in Haddonfield. Besides Howard, the oldest child, were brothers Raymond and Fred Holloway, and a sister, Evelyn.
Howard Holloway Jr. attended Haddonfield Memorial High School, where he was a member of the football team. He also played baseball in the Camden County Baseball League. Prior to entering the United States Navy in April of 1942, Howard Holloway Jr. worked as a member of the Haddonfield Police Department.
After entering the Navy, Howard Holloway was stationed at Cape May, New Jersey, as of December 1942. He later went overseas.
Howard H. Holloway Jr., of 24 Lees Avenue, Haddonfield, New Jersey, died of causes not related to combat while serving in the United States Navy on April 24, 1945.
Two Former Haddonfield Policemen In Armed Services

Two former Haddonfield police men, both nephews of former Mayor Fred Holloway of Haddonfield, are in the armed services. Howard E. Holloway, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holloway, 12 Lee avenue, Haddonfield, enlisted in the Naval Reserve last April and is stationed at Cape May. A member of the borough department for two years, he is a former member of the Camden County Baseball League and played football while at Haddonfield Memorial High school.
Corp. William H. Clark, 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Clark, 34 Tanner street, Haddonfield, is with the Army Air Corps at Orlando, Fla. He was inducted in June, 1941.
Holloway’s brother, Raymond, has completed a bombadier [sic] training course with the Army Air Corps and is stationed at Westover Field, Mass.
