H. Robert Lind
Chief Petty Officer H. Robert Lind was born in Philadelphia PA in 1908 to Emil and Ida Lind, who had both emigrated from Sweden around the turn of the century. The Linds had met and married in the USA, and had settled in Philadelphia PA, where in 1930 they lived at 2414 South 15th Street. Robert Lind was the third of five children, coming after Alma and William, and before Marie and Agnes. In April 1930 the census reported Emil Lind as working as a molder in an iron works. Robert Lind, then 21, was a coat salesman; brother William worked with his father at the iron works, and oldest sister Alma was a bookkeeper at a bank. The Lind family later moved to Camden NJ. Robert Lind met his wife Margaret at some point after April of 1930. They wed and made their home at 2117 River Road in Camden. At some point he had joined the United States Navy and had attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Chief Petty Officer H. Robert Lind died at the United States Naval Hospital at Bethesda MD on January 7, 1944. He was buried with full military honors on January 10, 1944. He was survived by his father, wife Margaret, brother William, then serving in the Navy himself, and his three sisters, all of whom had wed.

CHIEF LIND DIES AT NAVY CENTER
Chief Petty Officer H. Robert Lind, USNR, formerly of 2117 River avenue, died Friday in the U.S. Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.
Chief Lind, stationed at Washington, will be buried with full military honors tomorrow. Services will be held at 2 p.m. in a funeral home at 804-06 Twenty-seventh street.
Chief Lind is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Lind; his father, Emil K. Lind, of Camden; three sisters, Mrs. Horace Grider and Mrs. Walter Conine, Jr., of Camden; and Mrs. John Bergquist, of Philadelphia; and a brother, William E. Lind, seaman first class, USN, of Camden.
