Private First Class Gustav A. Barricelli was born June 13, 1916 to John and Mary Barricelli in Camden, NJ. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School on Westfield Avenue in East Camden. A self-employed carpenter before entering the Army, he lived at 3510 Federal Street in Camden, NJ. He had entered the Army in September 1942, and was sent overseas as a member of a medical unit in February 1944. He was killed in action on March 18, 1945 in the fighting which secured the Ludendorff Bridge over the Rhine River at Remagen, Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Gustav Barricelli was survived by his father John, four brothers Michael J., Mario G., Matthew, and Albert, and five sisters, Caroline, Tillie, Theresa, Lillian, and Julia.
On December 10, 1947, Gustav Barricelli was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ, at Plot F O 1471.

Requiem Mass for Pfc. Gustav A. Barricelli, of 3410 Federal street, who was killed in Germany on March 18, 1945, at the age of 28, will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Church, Twenty-ninth street and Westfield avenue.
Relatives and friends will meet in the Mason funeral home, 3303 Federal street, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. VFW Post No. 705 will conduct services at that time.
Pfc. Barricelli was born in Camden and attended St. Joseph’s parochial school. He entered the Army in Sept. 1942, and was killed one month after going overseas. He was attached to the medical detachment of the 47th Infantry Division.
Surviving are his father, John; four brothers, Albert, Mandel, Mario and Michael, all of Camden; and five sisters, Mrs. Primo Coccia, Mrs. Anthony Fausto, and Mrs. Domonic Pulcinello, of Camden, Mrs. Joseph Amodio of Trenton, and Mrs. Joseph Allegrette of Brooklyn.

Solemn Requiem Mass Wednesday morning 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 29th & Westfield Ave., Camden, N.J. Interment at U.S. National Cemetery, Beverly, N.J. Friends may call Tuesday and V.F.W. No. 705 will hold services at the Mason Funeral Home, 3303 Federal St., Camden, N.J. from 7 to 9.
