Staff Sergeant Frank J. Blair was the son of Joseph and Mary Blair. Born in New Jersey in 1921, his early years were spent in North Camden. In 1930 the family lived at 313 North Sixth Street. The Blair family later moved to 987 North 23rd Street in Camden, NJ’s Cramer Hill neighborhood. In 1930 the family included brothers Joseph Jr., Albert, and Jessie J., and sisters Rita and Helen. Frank Blair was a June 1940 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School on Federal Street in East Camden. Other members of his graduating class included Teddy Yurkiewicz, Tom Glennon, and Angelo DiCamillo.
Frank Blair had enlisted in the United States Army sometime after July of 1940. Qualifying for flight duty, he was a crewmember of a B-24 bomber. Along with another Camden County, NJ man, Sergeant Norman Albinson Jr. of Haddon Heights, he served with the 308th Bomb Group, based in Kunming, China.
Staff Sergeant Blair was killed in action on July 13, 1944. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. He is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii.

State Cop Defied; Motorist Is Fined

16 Autoists Arrested for Violations by Troopers of Berlin Barracks
A motorist who allegedly defied a State trooper in response to a command to “get over,” was included among 16 motorists arrested for motor vehicle violations over the weekend by State Police of the Berlin barracks.
The motorist, Broc Nord, 5360 Harding road, Merchantville, was fined $2.50 and costs for passing other cars to the left center of the road, and $2.50 and costs for disorderly conduct, when arraigned before Justice of the Peace David R. Finkenbinder, at Ancora.
Among the violations were included eight for speeding, three for careless driving and one each for “stop street” violation, reckless driving and improper parking.
The motorists, seven from New Jersey and nine from out of State were arraigned before Justices of the Peace Finkenbinder, Anthony B. Mauri, Chesilhurst; Arch Boardman, Elm; Thomas Henshaw, Elwood; John J. Crowley, Lindenwold; Oliver F. Bowen, Marlton; D. John Elberson, Somerdale, and Milton D. Schweiger, West Berlin.
Other New Jersey drivers included John Clark, 731 Elm street, Camden, “stop street” violation, $1.50; George Flitcraft, 40 Truman avenue, Haddonfield, speeding, $2.50; George Stinsman, 314 North Fourth street, Camden, reckless driving, $10; James Thompson, Clements Bridge road, Runnemede, improper parking, $1, and Frank Blair, 987 North Twenty-third street, Camden, careless driving, $2.50.
