Private Eugenio Pollastrini was born in Bagni San Giuliano, Italy on November 18, 1892. He emigrated to the United States in April of 1904 aboard the S.S. Citta di Milano, sailing from Genoa to New York, with his father Vincenzo, younger brother Amerigo, and several other family members. The family was living at 273 Liberty Street in South Camden by the time the 1906 City Directory was compiled.
Eugenio Pollastrini and his family were still living at 273 Liberty Street in Camden when he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917. He was called up in July of 1918 and sent to Fort Dix. In February of 1919 he was transferred to the 1st Construction Battalion, based at Camp Gordon, Fulton County, Georgia.
Private Pollastrini died of bronchitis at Camp Gordon on September 25, 1919. He was brought home to Camden and buried at New Camden Cemetery.
