Private First Class Eugene J. Pearce lived at 1607 Broadway in Camden, NJ. The son of Leo and Mary Dorothy Pearce, he had worked at Camden Forge prior to joining the Army in December of 1941. He was sent overseas in May of 1944.
Private First Class Pearce was killed in action in Germany on October 10, 1944. A mass was said in his name at the Church of the Sacred Heart at Broadway and Ferry Avenue in Camden, NJ, on November 18, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Eugene Pearce was brought home aboard the USAT Joseph V. Connolly, arriving October 27, 1947. He was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ, at Plot F, O 1580.
