Edward L. O'Toole
Private First Class Edward L. O’Toole, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division
Private First Class Edward L. O’Toole was born on April 8, 1921. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John O’Toole, of 1152 Penn Street in Camden, NJ. A 1942 graduate of Camden Catholic High School, he went into the Army on June 10, 1942, and went overseas in November of 1942.
Private First Class Edward O’Toole died of wounds received in combat in France on June 7, 1944. He was survived by his parents; brothers John Jr. and William; and sisters Joan and Mrs. Robert Heimlich. He was engaged to be married to Miss Ann McGraw of Philadelphia. His death was reported in the August 1, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. After the war, he was brought home to New Jersey and buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ, on May 24, 1948.

Requiem High Mass For War Veteran

Requiem high Mass will be celebrated at 9 a. m. Monday in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Pfc. Edward L. O’Toole, who was killed June 7, 1944, in France, at the age of 23. Relatives and friends will meet at 8 a. m., in a funeral home at 2850 Federal street, where friends may also call Sunday night. Burial will be in National cemetery, Beverly.
Private O’Toole, who lived at 1152 Penn street, was a graduate of Camden Catholic High school, class of 1942. He was inducted in the Army June 10, 1942.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John O’Toole; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Heimlich and Miss Joan O’Toole, of Camden; and two brothers, John Jr., and William, of Camden.
