Edward James Bosch
South Jersey: A History 1624–1924
EDWARD JAMES BOSCH, in 1918, volunteered for service in the United States Army, and was enrolled in the 309th Regiment, New Jersey, and sent to Camp Dix. He was transferred to the Headquarters Company, Signal Platoon, and became corporal. He saw ten months of fighting in France and was wounded in the first battle of St. Mihiel salient.
Edward James Bosch was born in Camden on January 20, 1892, and went through the public and high schools of his native city, completing his education by a course in the Camden Commercial College. After graduation he became interested in his father’s work—commercial art—and from 1913 to 1918 he was engaged as a lithographer. When he returned from France, he was associated for a time with L. E. Buchanan, located in Yorkship Village, and at the same time attended the University of Pennsylvania under the United States Government’s vocational plan, in which he had become interested.
A short time afterward he located permanently in Yorkship Village in business for himself. His father, Henry A. Bosch, still lives in Camden, and is one of the oldest in the United States in this line, having passed his eightieth birthday.
Edward J. Bosch is president of the Civic Development Association of Fairview, and treasurer of the Camden Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. He is also a member of the Holy Name Society; the Camden Lodge, Knights of Columbus; the American Legion, Fairview Post No. 7; the Camden Chamber of Commerce; and the South Jersey Automobile Club.
In April, 1919, at Media, Pennsylvania, Edward James Bosch married Miriam G. Boyle, daughter of Walter E. and Etta (Rice) Boyle. Their two sons are named Edward, Jr., and Frank. Mr. Bosch and his family are members of the parish of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, of Fairview.

DISABLED WAR VETS WILL PRESENT SHOW
Stage and Screen Stars to Perform; Dance Follows
All arrangements have been completed for the show and dance to be presented 8.30 p. m. Thursday at Convention Hall by the Disabled American Veterans of the World War.
The purpose of the entertainment is to raise funds for the benefit of disabled World War vets and their families.
Committeemen in charge of the program announced they had obtained the services of a number of stage and screen performers. Among the featured acts are the Adelphi Quartet, the “Three Flashes,” a sensational dancing team; Sweet and Proctor, giving a sketch, “Fun in Hollywood”; the Three Latinos, European musical novelty artists; Mullin and Vincent, comedians; Miss Belle Bontham, who claims to be the world champion whistler, and other features.
Music for the dancing to follow the vaudeville bill will be played by Harry Taylor’s Syncopators.
William Miller, commander of the August F. Walters Chapter No. 4, Disabled American Veterans of the World War, announced the public is responding in a gratifying manner in the purchase of tickets.
Walter G. Evans heads the show and dance committee. Other members of the committee are Jerry Bennett, William Amberg, Thomas Egan, Edward Bosch, Dr. C. Fred Baker and Oscar Marryott.

Competition to be Held Camden for Three Nights in May
Blanks to Enter Are Now Ready
Fairview Post No. 71, American Legion, will stage what promises to be the biggest amateur Boxing tournament ever held in New Jersey on the nights of May 12, 13 and 16, at Convention Hall. The Golden Gloves Championship will be held for the Middle Atlantic states. Boxers from three states will vie with each other for the glory and the prizes that are to be awarded. Fairview Post is a member of the Middle Atlantic Association A. A. U. and the bouts will be sanctioned by that body. Applications of amateurs who wish to compete are available at the Post home, Black Horse Pike and Collings Road, Camden. James R. Reed is general chairman of the committee. Joseph “Chubby” Stafford, undefeated amateur bantamweight champion, will assist the committee in an advisory capacity. Others named to the committee are James J. Leitch, advertising; Edward J. Bosch, Thomas Gibson and John B. Hegerich, tickets. Emerson Richards is secretary of the committee.
On Sunday, March 1 at Fairview Post, there will be a meeting, called by Department Vice Commander Jack Whomsley, of all county commanders and department executive committeemen of the counties in South Jersey on the first caucus for the national commander’s visit to New Jersey to be held on April 1. The meeting is called for 2 p.m. sharp. The delegation will be the guests of the Camden county executive committee.
