Edward Gangloff
Seaman Second Class Edward Gangloff was born December 12, 1925. He was serving aboard the USS Honolulu when he died of injuries received in action on October 20, 1944, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. His death was reported in the Camden Courier-Post. He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank John Gangloff, of Center Avenue in West Berlin NJ.
His body was returned home aboard the USAT George W.G. Boyce in 1948, and he was buried in Berlin Cemetery, in Berlin NJ on June 30 of that year.

S/2C Edward Gangloff Rites on Wednesday
High requiem Mass for S/2C Edward Gangloff, 18, will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Berlin. Relatives and friends will meet at 8:30 in the funeral home at White Horse pike and Stone road, Lindenwold. Military rites will be accorded.
He was killed in action on the USS Honolulu in the Battle of Leyte gulf, Oct. 20, 1944.
Born and reared in West Berlin, Seaman Gangloff entered the service Feb. 14, 1944. Prior to that he was employed at the John Lucas & Co., paint works, Gibbsboro. He trained at Great Lakes Naval Base, Camp Perry and Treasure Island before going to sea.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Rose A. Gangloff, two sisters, Miss Rosalie Gangloff and Mrs. Sue Halfmann; three brothers, Francis, Joseph and William, all of West Berlin.
