Introduction
Corporal Earl A. Troup, Jr. was raised in Runnemede, N.J., where his family lived at 401 Singley Avenue. A 1938 graduate of Audubon (N.J.) High School, he was inducted into the United States Army early in the war. He initially served at Fort Jackson, SC with the demonstration unit at the Officers Candidate School there. He was subsequently assigned to the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division. Sent overseas in February of 1943, he landed with his unit on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
Corporal Earl Troup was killed in action in France on July 13, 1944, at the age of 25. Surviving him were his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Troup, of 1711 Sycamore Street in Haddon Heights, N.J., and a sister, Mrs. Helen Bolton of Runnemede, N.J. His death was reported in the August 23, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.
