Introduction
David E. Burch
Private First Class David E. Burch was born in New Jersey on July 21, 1903. He spent much of his early life in the South. The Burch family was in South Carolina when brother Ernest was born in 1905, and in Alabama when sister Ella was born, around 1916. By the time of the April 1930 Census, his mother, Alverta Burch, was widowed, and was operating a boardinghouse in a property she owned at 110 East Maple Avenue in Merchantville NJ. At this point in time David Burch was working as an automobile mechanic. His brother Ernest was at law school. At some point David Burch married, and joined the Army.
David Burch was still serving in the United States Army Air Force when he died on December 26, 1946. He was survived by his wife Mary.
