Introduction
Charles F. Sorg was born in Pennsylvania to Ferdinand and Josephine Sorg, both of whom had been born in Germany, around 1897. The family had moved to 1114 Lois Avenue in the Cramer Hill section of Camden NJ by June of 1900. Ferdinand Sorg was working as a jeweler in a jewelry shop at the time of the 1920 census. Charles F. Sorg worked as a photoengraver in Philadelphia, a trade he would pursue for the rest of his life.
Charles F. Sorg married his wife Bertha around 1922. By 1924 the Sorg family, which included children Catherine and Carl, had bought a home at 925 North 32nd Street in Camden’s Cramer Hill section. Another child, Morell, was born after April of 1930.
Charles F. Sorg became active in politics. He was a neighbor and protege of labor leader Royd Morrison and of Mayor Frederick von Nieda, and was a member of the Lincoln Association, a club of which Mayor von Nieda was also a member.
Charles F. Sorg was taken ill at Ship Bottom NJ on August 10, 1936. He was rushed home to Camden, but died the following evening. Survived by his wife and three children, he was buried at Fernwood Cemetery in Philadelphia PA on August 15, 1936. Bertha Sorg remained a resident of Cramer Hill, and still resided at 925 North 32nd Street as late as 1947. She stayed in Camden, and passed away in September of 1978.

Charles F. Sorg, 39, well-known for his activities in Eleventh ward politics, died late Tuesday night at his home, 925 North Thirty-second street.
Mr. Sorg was rushed to his home yesterday from Ship Bottom where he had been stricken ill Monday. Dr. Lee J. Hammett, attending the man, said death was caused by his bedside, was death was due to a complicated malady.
Mr. Sorg was prominent politically when he was an associate of the late Royd Morrison, labor leader, and of Mayor Frederick von Nieda. He was treasurer of the Lincoln Association, employe was a photo engraver employed in Philadelphia.
Surviving are his wife, Bertha; three children, Catherine, Carl and Morell; his mother, Mrs. Josephine Sorg, and a sister, Mrs. Pauline Huhn, all of Camden.

Funeral services for Charles F. Sorg, leader in Eleventh ward politics, who died Tuesday, will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at the home, 925 North Thirty-second street. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Philadelphia.
