BARGE FACES CHAMP IN BATESVILLE TIFF
Camden Scrapper Meets Broxton To-night in Feature Amateur Bout

Many good fighters today start their careers in the amateurs and Leon Broxton, East Side AC., Philadelphia, is no exception to the rule.

Broxton, who is South Jersey amateur lightweight champion, having won the title a couple months ago during the life of the South Jersey Amateur tourney held at the Batesville open air arena, returns to the scene of his triumph tonight.

He's scheduled to meet Albert Barge, a Camden youngster who represents Haddon AC in the feature bout at the Batesville arena. Barge has been going good the past two months and sought the match against Broxton. However, Al has a fight on his hands as Broxton is an accomplished scrapper. He's clever and an exceptionally sharp puncher. It should be a good fight.

The heavyweight semi-windup will see Tex Jackson, U. S. Navy, just returned from two years duty in the Pacific, throwing leather against Ray Dambrosio, 43rd Ward hopeful.

A total of five other bouts are on the card, which is under the sponsorship of the Clementon Post No. 90, American Legion. The other contests are:

160 Pounds

Dennis Hagen, Dunbar AC., vs. Charles Green. Camden AC.

147 Pounds

Malcolm Ethenjian, Local No.2. vs. Marvin Young, Eastside AA.

115 Pounds

Sammy Seegars, Vineland. vs. George Hayward, Local No.2.

126 Pound.
