RALPH EDWARD SLATER was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War who served for 26 years with the Camden County Sheriff's Department, retiring on February 1, 2003. He then worked as civilian identification officer with the Camden Police Department, and lastly was employed with the Camden Fire Department in the Fire Marshall's office. Ralph E. Slater passed away on October 13, 2015 after battling lung cancer for two years. He was survived by his wife and daughters. |

graduated Audubon High School in 1966. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the Air Force
from 1966 to 1972 as a Security Sergeant. He received the
bronze star medal for leadership and meritorious service. he met his wife theresa as a
patient at west jersey hospital, where she was his nurse. they married in 1972 and were married
for over 41 years until her death. he worked at the camden county sheriff's department for 26
years and retired as a sergeant. he then worked as a civilian identification officer for the
camden city police department and most recently for the camden city fire marshall's office.
throughout his career he made many dear friends whom he treasured. he was devoted to his family
and he considered his neighbors close friends. he worked hard throughout his life. he took pride
in improving his home and enjoyed woodworking and crossword puzzles. he will always be
remembered for his great sense of humor and "slater stories". He was a man of pride and honor
and always strived to be a good man and Christian. |
