LINWOOD FISHER was born on September 24, 1943 to Samuel E Fisher Sr. and his wife, the former Josephine Huff. His father was a World War II veteran and a member of the Camden Fire Department, and his parents were active members of Wesley AME Zion Church which until the very late 1960s stood at 753 Sycamore Street. The family, which included brother Samuel E. Fisher Jr., lived at 115 Branch Village in 1947, when his father began service with the Fire Department. They lived at 1820 South 10th Street in the mid-1950s. By 1963 the family had moved to 1620 Kolo Street.

Linwood Fisher served in the United States Army from January 1, 1965 to January 1, 1967, then returned to civilian life in Camden.

Both Linwood Fisher and his brother Samuel E. Fisher Jr., a member of the great Camden High School basketball team that won state championships in 1959 and 1960, were appointed to the Camden Fire Department, with Linwood Fisher beginning his service on January 5, 1968.

Linwood Fisher was serving with Engine Company 10 at 2500 Morgan Boulevard in the mid-1990s. He retired after 23 years of service on May 1, 2001. The Fire Department's last address on record for him was 1620 Kolo Street, however by the mid-1990s he had moved to Maple Shade, New Jersey.

Well-liked by his brother firefighters, he is remembered known as the "singing fireman. Linwood Fisher passed away on April 15, 2006.
