AGE: 75 • Camden
On April 14, 2013, of Camden, NJ. Age 75 yrs.
Beloved husband of Lucila Torres (nee Ortiz), Loving father of Jess Torres
(Harriett), Edward Torres, and Kenneth Torres (Annette), cherished
grandfather of Dennis M., Timothy, Daniel, Donovan, Alicia, Savannah,
Kirsten and KJ (Kenneth) and great grandfather of Lily Madison. Dear
brother of Eva Vaccaro (Able) and the late Amalia Torres.
Mr. Torres was a former Councilman for the City of Camden, a former member
of the Camden City Board of Education and member of the Camden Parking
Authority. He also served as the Director of Recreation for the Camden
County Park Commission, the President of the Board of Puerto Rican Unity
for Progress, a member of the Committee for the Puerto Rican Day Parade,
was a member of the Santa Isabel Club and served and worked on many other
civic activities. Mr. Torres moved to Camden in 1944 from Santa Isabel
Puerto Rico, he was an active member of the
Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel/Fatima Parish and also served our Country as a
member of the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1962.
Relatives and friends and members of all of his Associations are invited
to meet Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00pm at CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 400
White Horse Pike, Oaklyn and again from 8:30 to 10:00am Friday morning at
the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 642 Market St., Camden. Mass
of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:00am at the church. Entombment
to be held Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. In lieu of flowers the family
has requested memorial donations in Mr. Torres name be made to the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church at the above address.
