HENRY A. YIP was born in 1947. He was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on June 12, 1970, and gave the City of Camden over 29 years of honorable service before retiring on January 1, 2000. Retired Camden Police officer Warren "Larry" Worrell wrote of Henry: He joined the CFD about the same time I joined the CPD. I got to know him because he cared about his bothers, and became involved with their union about the same time I became involved with the police union (PBA) in the city. The firefighters & cops in the city worked very closely together on contracts back in the day. We felt if the firefighters & cops stood together we would be stronger. And, we were. He was a good man, and I'm proud to have known him, and worked with him. A long-time resident of East Camden and Cramer Hill, Henry Yip was last a resident of Magnolia. He and his wife died suddenly on September 25, 2013, leaving six children, an extended family, and many friends. |

All things considered, it is far better to remember a man by how he lived than by how he died. The former is a lifetime, the latter just a moment. |
