GEORGE EDWARD BROWN JR.  was born in New Jersey on December 19, 1947 to George E. Brown Sr. and his wife, the former Virginia Ruth Ulrich. His father had been born in Mt. Holly and had come to Camden in the 1930s. His mother's family had been in Cramer Hill since the 1910s. George and Virginia Brown and family were living with  Virginia's mother, Mrs. Emma Ulrich, at 2854 Buren Avenue in the late 1950s and quite possibly earlier.

On September 20, 1957 George E. Brown Jr.'s uncle, edward f. ulrich was appointed to the camden fire department. george e. Brown Sr.

would soon follow. He was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on April 14, 1960, and reported for duty on April 16, 1960. George E. Brown Sr. and family were living at 2834 buren avenue in Cramer Hill when he was appointed to the Camden Fire Department. By 1969 the Brown family had moved to 138 north 26th street in East Camden, and were still at that address as late as the fall of 1981.

In February of 1968 George E. Brown Jr. married Joanne Swietanski. The marriage produced two children, daughter Kim, and son Chris.

In September of 1973,after serving in Vietnam as a member of the United States Navy,  George E. Brown Jr. joined his father as a member of the Camden Fire Department. After 26 years and 7 months of honorable service, George E. Brown retired on pension effective January 1, 1987.

George E. Brown Jr. continued to serve until his retirement, on January 1, 2003. Last a resident of Franklinville, New Jersey, George E. Brown Jr., died on July 5, 2019. He joined his wife, who had passed away previously.

George E. Brown, Jr., age 71, of Franklinville, NJ, passed away on July 5, 2019.

Mr. Brown was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and later worked as a firefighter for the Camden Fire Department for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating, cooking, music and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Most of all, he will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Beloved husband of the late Joanne Brown (nee Swietanski). Devoted father of Kim Brown Wood (Tony Delayo) and Christopher Brown (Stacy). Loving grandfather of Madison Brown (James Gandy) and Steven Wood, Jr. Dear brother of Bonnie Swope (Frank), Steven Brown (Patricia), Gary Brown (Trish), Jeannie Dicken (Paul), and the late Donna Brown. Predeceased by his parents George E. Brown, Sr. and Virginia “Sis” Brown. Dear uncle of Brian (Jarivette), Stacey, Stephanie, Jessica (Ed), Matthew (Regina), Bob (Katie), Sarah, Abby, Matthew (Taryn), and Paul, III. He is also survived by many loving friends and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, July 12th from 9:30 – 11:30 AM, where a service will be held at 11:30 AM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main St., Williamstown. Burial will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
