FRANK JAMES CONWAY was born on January 15, 1938 in Camden, New Jersey to Nicholas and Bertha Conway. His parents were both born in Newfoundland, Canada and had come to Camden in the 1920s, as did many others who were native to that Canadian province. The Conway family, which then included daughters Mary A. and Bertha and son William, was living at 235 Chestnut Street in South Camden when the 1930 Census was taken, Nicholas Conway then working as a carpenter. Sadly, daughter Bertha died before the end of the 1930s. By the time the 1940 Census was enumerated, six more children had been born, Agnes R., Theresa J., Claire D., Nicholas Jr., Frank J., and the youngest, Bertha J., who was born in the latter half of 1939. Nicholas Conway was by then working as a dock builder. The family was living at 1268 Mechanic Street, next door to the Dennis Conway family who lived at 1266. Dennis Conway, his wife Anna and son John were also Newfoundland natives. Dennis Conway was most likely were related to Nicholas Conway. By 1956 Nicholas Conway and his family had moved to 1228 Van Hook Street.
