Technical Sergeant Bertine M. Riegel Jr. of Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Technical Sergeant Bertine M. Riegel Jr. was born in 1917. He lived at 131 Hopkins Avenue in Haddonfield, New Jersey, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bertine M. Riegel Sr. He was a graduate of Haddonfield High School and a football star. Prior to entering the service, he was a salesman for the Campbell Soup Company.
Sergeant Riegel served in the U.S. Army Air Forces for four years and was a radio operator. He died on May 16, 1944, in the Pacific theater. His remains were interred at Arlington National Cemetery on May 10, 1948.
He was survived by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Miller of Audubon and Mrs. Jane Wright of Columbus, Georgia; and a brother, Ernst, of Collingswood.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Arlington National cemetery for T/Sgt. Bertine M. Riegel Jr., 26, former Haddonfield High school football star, who was killed in action on Makin atoll in May, 1944.
Sergeant Riegel served in the Air Forces four years and was a radio operator on a B-29. Prior to entering the service, he was a salesman for the Campbell Soup Co.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bertine M. Riegel Sr., 131 Hopkins avenue, Haddonfield; two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Miller, Audubon, and Mrs. Jane Wright, Columbus, Ga., and a brother, Ernst, Collingswood.
