Introduction

Boatswain’s Mate Second Class Albert Merton Hovey served aboard the destroyer USS Maddox (DD-622) during World War II. He was killed on July 10, 1943, when the Maddox was sunk off Sicily during the Allied invasion of that island. He is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial in Hawaii, and on the Gloucester Township, NJ, World War II memorial.
