SERGEANT WILLIAM CALLEN, 23, of Camden NJ, was killed in action on November 20, 1944. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Callen, who lived on 7th Avenue in the Ashland neighborhood on the border of Voorhees Township and what was then Delaware Township NJ. William Callen had married and was living and working in Camden NJ as an employee of the New York Shipbuilding Company. His address was reported as 28 Church Street, Camden NJ in the December 14 edition of the Camden Courier-Post, and as 416 Chambers Avenue in the January 17, 1945 edition. He had entered the Army in December of 1942. William Callen was survived by his wife Eleanor, his parents, a sister May, and a brother Albert who was serving in the Coast Guard. Albert died while in service in 1945. |
