PRIVATE GERALD THINNES grew up in Runnemede NJ. He was born around 1920 in New Jersey to Henry A. and Viola G. Thinnes, the second of three children, coming after Henry A. Jr. and before Delores. By April of 1930 he family was living in Runnemede. Henry Thinnes supported his family with his tile-setting business. Before his induction into the Army, Gerald Thinnes lived in Runnemede NJ with his wife, Marion E. Thinnes. He was killed in a plane crash not related to combat in 1945. Mrs. Marion Thinnes became a charter member of the Camden County Chapter of the Gold Star Wives of World War II in November of 1947. |
