PRIVATE FIRST CLASS RICHARD VINCENT BUCK was born in Pennsylvania on October 15, 1915. He was a graduate of Mount Ephraim NJ public schools, and attended Audubon High School in Audubon NJ. In 1930 he and his three brothers were living with their Aunt and Uncle, Joseph A. and Elizabeth C. Denof of Bell Road in Mount Ephraim NJ. The family later moved to 212 Fifth Avenue in Mount Ephraim. Richard Buck was inducted into the Army about January 1, 1942. He was killed in an accident on August 13, 1942 while serving with a Tank Destroyer unit at Camp Cooke, Santa Barbara County CA. His body was returned to Camden NJ, where his uncle, William Denof, was a funeral director. He was buried at New St. Mary's Cemetery on Bellmawr NJ on August 23, 1942. Richard Buck was survived by his step-parents, brothers William H., Edward N., and Victor Q. Buck, and uncle William Denof. |
