PRIVATE JAMES R. ADDISON, of 308 10th Avenue, in Haddon Heights NJ, was killed in action on October 21, 1944 during the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest. The son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Addison of Wenonah NJ, he had graduated from Haddon Heights High School and was well-known as baseball player throughout South Jersey. Prior to entering the Army in March of 1944, he had worked for the Esterbrook Pen Company in Camden NJ, and as an electrician at the New York Shipbuilding Company's yards in Camden. Once entering the service, he had received his basic training at Camp Blanding FL before being sent overseas as an infantry replacement in September of 1944. Besides his parents, James Addison was survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Bretherton Addison, and a daughter Judith. |
