PRIVATE WILLIAM T. STILL was born in 1922 to Horace and Ruth Still in Haddonfield NJ. According to the 1930 Census, the family lived at 500 Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield NJ. The elder Still worked as a laborer for the local water company, and Mrs. Still did housework in private homes in the area. William was the third child. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 27, 1941. Private William Still went overseas, and saw duty in North Africa, France, and Germany. He died in Germany on April 4, 1945 at the age of 23. He was survived by his mother, Mrs. Ruth Still, brothers Horace Jr., Granville, Donald, Gilbert, Alvin, and Randolph, and sisters Mrs. Cleo Boyer, Mrs. Irene Jones, and Miss Evelyn Still. William Still was brought home to New Jersey in the fall of 1948. He was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Lawnside NJ in December of that year. |
