CAPTAIN
GILBERT LENTNER WARE was born in 1900 in Pennsylvania. He was the
eldest son of Edward M. and Margaret F. Ware. His father ran a printing
business. When he registered for the draft in September of 1918 he was
working as a clerk for Amatol, Inc. in Atlantic City. In 1920 both Gilbert and his brother,
Marc Kendall Ware were
working in the printing business as well, and the Ware family lived on
Hamilton Avenue in Haddonfield NJ. He also had a younger sister, Helen
Ware. Captain Gilbert L. Ware died while serving as an officer with the United States Army's Air Transport Command on November 8, 1945. Mrs. Dorothy Ware became a charter member of the Camden County Chapter of the Gold Star Wives of World War II in November of 1947. |
