TECHNICAL SERGEANT HYMAN
SMALL had lived at 209 North Broadway in Gloucester City NJ. He operated
a tailor shop in Gloucester City for six years. He also owned and
operated a bowling alley in Palmyra NJ from October 1940 until he wwas inducted into the
United States Army in
August of 1941.
Assigned to the 29th Infantry Division, he landed on Omaha Beach on
D-Day.
Hyman Small was killed in
action in the fighting in the Normandy Hedgerows on June 21, 1944. 29 at
the time of his death, he
was survived by his father, Jacob Small of Philadelphia, a brother
Samuel Small, of Bellmawr NJ, and two
sisters, Miss Ida Small of Brooklyn and Mrs. Gussie Besner of New York
City.
Hyman Small was
brought home after the war, and he was buried at Roosevelt Memorial
Park, Roosevelt Boulevard and City Lane, in Trevose PA on August 18,
1948.
