TECHNICAL SERGEANT CARL E. KING was born in Florida in 1922 to Willy and Winnie King. The Kings had lived in Georgia until sometime after 1918. The migrated north to Delaware Township NJ in the mid to late 1920s. Willy King started a painting business, and did well enough so that by 1930 the Kings owned a home at 216 Merchant Street in Delaware Township, and the family has retained a presence on Merchant Street to this day. Delaware Township was later renamed Cherry Hill. Inducted into the Army early in the war, Carl King was assigned to the 597th Ordnance Ammunition Co. He was killed in action on April 27, 1945, and was buried in the Netherlands. |
