Back to Back Fires on Sylvan Street & Ware Street

This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey.

There was a time when it was not uncommon for the Camden Fire Department to go from one fire to the next… the most famous example, of course, being Mischief Night in 1991 when companies from Camden and elsewhere were operating all night long.

The first box was at 735 Sylvan Street in the Morgan Village section of Camden. This was a quick knockdown. I was at Grove Street and Route 70 when this came over the scanner, so once again, I got there late… but late is better than not at all. Moments after the last company had pulled away, the second box came for 713 Ware Street, only a few blocks away in the Chelton Terrace public housing project.

On the way back to Pennsauken, I caught up with Engine 9, investigating a report of a child hit by a car in the 3400 block of Cramer Street. This apparently was a false alarm.
