Fire Department |
The second of two working fires on June 30, 2012, this came in at 1:40 AM in the afternoon on an extremely hot day. Battalion Chief Jesse Flax Jr. arrived to find heavy fire showing on the first floor of 626 Cherry Street, an abandoned two-story twin dwelling. Command requested the second alarm struck for heavy fire through out the dwelling, and Ladder Company 2 placed the ladder pipe in service to knock the bulk of the fire. A company from the Gloucester City Fire Department was also on hand to render assistance. Unfortunately, the fire had spread to the occupied home at 624 Cherry Street, which was also damaged, though not nearly as badly as 626. Hopefully this home can be repaired. I arrived on location almost 50 minutes into the job, taking my first photo at 2:31 PM, and was on scene for almost 90 minutes. Fire photographer Curt Hudson was also there, as well as a photographer from the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania area. Firefighter Asante Wilson got a few shots in of the fire in its early stages, which are presented below as well. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces). Phil
