Fire Department |
This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. A few hours after the fire at the Gramercy Park Apartments at 2800 Hull Road in Fairview was extinguished, a gas leak was reported around the corner on North Congress Road. The gas was emanating from an unoccupied two-story middle-of-the row dwelling at 2820 North Congress Road. As per practice, multiple companies were dispatched as a precaution until Public Service Gas & Electric Company personnel could get to the address and secure the utilities. This leak may have been caused by the theft of pipes in the home by vandals. I was in South Camden and was riding with Rescue Company 1 that morning. We actually were on our way over to inspect the damage at the apartments when this call came in. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces). Phil
