Camden
Fire Department |
This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. A stop in Camden at Liberty Station yielded some interesting pictures of bit of firehouse life in between runs. Equipment maintenance and interaction with the public are topics of not the greatest degree of excitement, but vital to the performance of the tasks at hand. I was in town with Merchantville volunteer fire-fighter Rob Kanauss, as I had arranged to meet Dave Hernandez, a fire photographer who is also a Captain with the Medford, New Jersey fire department. When we arrived the rubber boats were being washed down, as they had been used earlier in the day for a report of a body in Newton Creek, which turned out to be a hoax. After that task was completed, firefighter Carlos Colon performed equipment checks on the ladder, and firefighter Joel Thompson gave two neighborhood boys a short tour of the station. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces). Phil
