Fire Department |
This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. At 4:18 PM on January 5, 2012 fire was reported in a long-abandoned two-story house at 326 Royden Street. This house had originally been built as a middle of the row, by this time 322 and 328 Royden had been razed, as had a detached house at 330 Royden, and 324 Royden had also been vacant for a number of years. On arrival heavy fire was reported in the rear, and at the ten-minute mark the rear of the building collapsed. Defensive operations continued and the fire was extinguished with no injuries. Photographer Ted Aurig was on scene a few minutes before I arrived. A few of his photos are here and you can see more of Ted's photos from this fire by clicking here. Photographer Dave Hernandez arrived after I had begun shooting, and hopefully I will be be able to post some of his work here as well. I arrived at the scene and took my first picture at 4:35 PM. All photos are presented in the order in which they were taken. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces). I'm somewhat behind as of this writing in captioning photos, as things have been quite busy since New Years Day! Phil
